Starting and stopping the print server

Starting the print server

You can start the server manually or set it to start up automatically each time your computer starts up.

To start the print server manually:
1 Open the Apple menu and choose AppleShare IP Admin, then choose Print Admin.
2 Open the Server menu and choose Start Print Server.
When you start the print server, it attempts to reattach printers. If users are printing directly on those printers, it waits until direct printing is finished.
Jobs that were being printed when you last stopped the server resume printing from the first page.

    To set automatic startup:
1 Open the Apple menu and choose AppleShare IP Admin, then choose Print Admin.
2 Open the Server menu and choose Print Server Settings.
3 Select the "Start AppleShare IP Print Server at System Startup" checkbox.
    4 Click Save.

Stopping the print server

    To stop the print server:
1 Open the Apple menu and choose AppleShare IP Admin, then choose Print Admin.
2 Open the Server menu and choose Stop Print Server.
The print server automatically detaches all printers. Jobs that have not yet printed remain in the queue but users cannot send jobs to a queue.
3 Respond to the onscreen message.
If you click Shutdown Now, jobs that are being printed will resume printing from the first page when you restart. Jobs that are being queued will be deleted.
